Accelerating the Fashion Design Process
The fashion industry is constantly evolving, with brands like Shein, H&M, and Zara setting the pace by updating their collections rapidly. To keep up, designers are embracing technology. Raspberry AI, founded two years ago by Cheryl Liu, has emerged as a game-changer with its generative AI-powered text-to-image platform, enabling designers to visualize ideas instantly. This eliminates the need for time-consuming physical samples or outdated design tools like Adobe Photoshop and Browzwear.
From Sketch to Reality
Liu, who identified the potential of generative AI after the launch of models like DALL-E and Stable Diffusion, explained that Raspberry allows designers to transform sketches into photo-realistic images. These images help brands evaluate multiple design iterations without producing costly physical samples. Currently, Raspberry AI serves 70 clients, including Under Armour, Gruppo Teddy, and MCM Worldwide.
Impressive Growth and Funding
Raspberry AI’s innovative approach has attracted significant attention, resulting in a $24 million Series A funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). This follows a $4.5 million seed round raised just 10 months ago. Andreessen Horowitz partner Bryan Kim highlighted Raspberry’s rapid growth and its ability to attract high-profile clients as key investment drivers.
Staying Ahead of Competitors
Although Raspberry competes with tools like Midjourney and Adobe Firefly, it stands out by interpreting industry-specific terminology accurately and offering unique features, such as generating images directly from sketches.
Future Expansion Plans
With its new funding, Raspberry AI plans to hire talent in engineering, sales, and marketing while broadening its focus to include home, furniture, and cosmetics design.
